Fažana

Fažana is one of those coastal spots that looks close to everything on a map yet can be surprisingly fiddly to reach by public transport. Istria's attractions are spread out, the buses that run along the coast keep to their own timetable and stop on main roads rather than at your apartment door, and arriving with luggage and a tired family in tow makes the last stretch the hardest. Fažana is a coastal fishing village on the western shore of southern Istria, best known as the gateway to the Brijuni archipelago, the national park just offshore. It has kept much of its working-harbour character, with fishing boats, a pleasant seafront and a long-standing connection to the sea and its traditions.
