Makarska is the principal town of the Makarska Riviera, a popular Dalmatian resort set in a sheltered bay below the dramatic Biokovo massif. Its harbour serves the car-ferry crossing to Sumartin, on the eastern end of the island of Brač, giving travellers a direct sea link from the mainland resort across to the island.
